The R4 card was one of the first adapter cards to ever hit the market once the Nintendo DS game system was first released.

How Much Has Technology Progressed Since R4 Cards?

The R4 card was one of the first adapter cards to ever hit the market once the Nintendo DS game system was first released.  The great thing about a Nintendo DS is the fact that that it is so portable, giving you the ability to easily carry a number of games anywhere you go. Those games come in small, lightweight packages.  You will never have to worry about overloading yourself when you take a Nintendo DS with you.  The R4 card that was first developed only served to make the DS even more functional because an R4 card allowed you to use the DS for a number of additional purposes.

The idea was that an R4 adapter card would slide directly into the game slot of a Nintendo DS and using the memory card paired with the adapter card, you could access a number of other programs and functions straight through your DS console.  You could make virtual copies of all of the games you own, storing them on one single card that was easy to carry around.  You could play audio or video files through your DS, easily taking advantage of a lightweight, portable system for a variety of media purposes.

Since that original conception, however, the technology in Nintendo DS models has expanded.  They are able to function at a faster rate, showing better graphics and using better controls.  The original technology used that the regular R4 cards fed off of was no longer present.  There were a variety of other cards which came on the market up until the present day, but one of the newest and most innovative models is that of the EZ Flash card.  One of these EZ Flash cards makes it easy for you to have a full range of function through the Nintendo DS once more.

The EZ Flash can handle some of the largest memory cards available.  This means that you should be able to store a wide range of data within the EZ Flash card, from virtual copies of all of your games to additional songs, videos, or even text files.  You could turn your DS into a portable photo album, carrying a range of pictures with you as well.  A card like this could also give you the ability to browse the Internet if you are within the range of a Wi-Fi network.

Perhaps the best function of an EZ Flash card, however, comes in the fact that these cards are fully backwards compatible.  You can purchase an EZ Flash card and use it on your original DS system.  You could also stick your card into your friend's DS-i model, using your same programs on the newer, faster model of Nintendo DS on the market.  Making the purchase of an adapter card which is fully usable on any game platform is a wise idea, for it will suddenly turn your game console into something that can be used for a variety of programs.  Instead of purchasing an outdated R4 card, spend a little extra money to get the new EZ Flash model.  They will last you longer and serve you better.
